Roman glass has been preserved for centuries and was made with sand, nitrate, and a massive amount of heat in a process that was extremely difficult for the times. To achieve the unique colors, glassmakers would add various metal oxides such as potassium or magnesium to give each piece a different hue. This glass was used throughout the time of the Roman Empire for items like vases, mosaic tiles and more.
