Blue Paper, Connections, and the Tribe

Blue Paper, a History…

If you have ever been to one of my shows, you probably remember the little slips of blue paper that say “GIVEAWAY!” at the top…I’m always either running out of them, misplacing them, or using the back of them for notes. Well, those little pieces of paper hold the names of all the members of the Daisy Chains Tribe. I’ve said hello to 99% of you…(a few of you may have stopped by while I was on a break)…but chances are good that we have chatted. Chances are even better that we have shared a laugh, or I’ve shared my inspiration on some of my work. And in some cases, we know each other so well, that I’ve met your family and have watched your children grow up and go off to college. Either way, our paths have crossed, and those little pieces of blue paper were a catalyst.

Connections & the Tribe

Now, what does it mean to be part of the Tribe? Well, to some, it would simply mean that you signed up for my mailing list. But, to me, it is a lot more. The Tribe consists of my people, my art fair friends. I look forward to seeing you every year. One of the best things about my work is talking and connecting with you. Although I might not know each of you well (yet) we certainly have shared a smile, or a laugh. Maybe you tell me how you broke your bracelet slinging a bale of hay or mountain biking. (true stories!) However, in the course of our sharing, you decide that there is some value in us continuing our conversation beyond the art fair. Eventually, you sign this little piece of blue paper and we become connected. You become part of the Tribe. 

So, now that we are connected, I get to share all sorts of stuff with you. And today I am thrilled to announce the winners of the Art Fair Giveaway. As many of you know, I have three daughters. Usually, they would take turns picking the names of the winners from a jar. However, now that they are older —and busier— I had to rely on my trusty sidekick, Chantel, to do the honors.
