Silver Capped Turquoise Earrings
Spring colors are my favorite! Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to the sky blue turquoise in my Silver Capped Turquoise Earrings. Faceted turquoise stones with an earthy matrix, delightfully sandwiched between two pieces of hammered silver. The perfect way to combat a blue sky that is currently hiding behind a thick layer of April clouds. Earrings measure 1/2 inch long, while sterling silver leverbacks provide a comfortable and secure fit.
These earrings are the perfect companion to the Essential Kaleidoscope Necklace, or a Gemstone Choker.
A word about Turquoise
Turquoise dates back to 6,000 B.C., when it was mined, traded and revered by ancient cultures in Egypt, Persia, Turkey and China. For that reason, it is not surprising that turquoise is one of the world’s most popular stones. Today, turquoise mines are located in the western United States, Mexico, Iran, Afghanistan, China and Australia. It is the birthstone for the month of December, and is a stone of friendship and purification. In some Native American cultures, warriors and hunters wore the stone for protection and good fortune.
Care for your turquoise by avoiding sharp blows, hot water, and household chemicals. Turquoise is relatively soft making it vulnerable to scratches. Because turquoise is a porous stone, it can absorb body oils or other oils causing the stone to yellow over time. Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner on Turquoise and avoid chlorine.
